New preprint released: A different perspective on seasonal energy storage

Most discussions focus on batteries and short-term hydrogen solutions, but we still lack large-scale seasonal storage for renewable energy. The Tubular Storage Tank Module (TSTM) offers a modular, high-pressure methane storage alternative — designed to capture surplus electricity efficiently and avoid major conversion losses typical of Power-to-X routes.

Key benefits:
• Relieves and stabilizes the grid
• Stores otherwise curtailed renewable energy
• Avoids costly redispatch and grid expansion
• Ensures winter energy availability
• Enables water-free hydrogen production via pyrolysis
