National Grid to pay households to use less power as cold snap hits UK

National Grid is looking to demand-side management to handle peak times.  Their grid operator says the scheme does not mean electricity supplies are at risk.  But analyst are worried this could be to counteract low wind speeds, low temperatures and high electricity demand.  Will users welcome the opportunity to help manage the load?  Would customers embrace it in the U.S.?
