More than 600,000 customers still without power in Florida; FPL has restored power to almost 80%

FPL lost no power plants or transmission lines in 155 mph winds

"Florida Power & Light Co. CEO Eric Silagy said over the weekend that past efforts to bury power lines and replace wooden poles with concrete or steel ones paid off. The utility’s transmission structures stood firm, he said, and the underground power system fared better than the poles and wires that remained above ground."

Duke will restore customers by Sunday or when the customer can take power

The coops in rural Florida will rebuild one pole at a time. Flooding has restricted safe access.
