How much does it cost to fuel an EV in Brazil?
Last week, the inauguration of an electro station on Rodovia Anhanguera (SP) was announced, which sells energy for R$ 2.1/kWh.
A gasoline car does 14 km/litre. If a liter of gasoline costs R$ 5.6, it is roughly equivalent to R$ 0.4/km.
An electric car does 8 km/kWh. Considering the price of BRL 2.1/kWh, it comes to BRL 0.26/km.
The fuel savings of the electric car with the price of this charging station is R$ 0.14/km.
This difference is still modest considering that an electric car costs R$ tens of thousands more than the equivalent of gasoline.
Just for a reference, and not counting the interest on the extra capital invested, to save, for example R$ 50 thousand, it will be necessary to run 125 thousand km. This is a horizon of years for a typical driver !
A more interesting option is charging the car at home where the kWh costs half the price of this electro station.
