Hawaiian Electric Is Replacing Wood Poles Lost In August Fires With Steel

The Lahaina community overwhelmingly wants Hawaiian Electric to bury as many (OH) lines underground as possible to significantly reduce the threat of wildfire going forward according to a member of the Lahaina Advisory Team.

That task (they claim)would be massively expensive, however. (CLICK ON THIS LINK https://lnkd.in/eTpBzQeH AND YOU GET A 2023 ARTICLE QUOTING EVERSOURCE ENERGY ABOUT THEIR HIGH COSTS) Utilities across America and the world are evaluating the real cost of underground versus overhead by analyzing the total cost of ownership over the life of the asset.

Old myths about high costs and various challenges like underwater power lines have been repeatedly dispelled, yet linger. The Power Delivery Intelligence Initiative just published “The Age of Undergrounding Report“ at https://lnkd.in/efYNgxzY

This report and my whitepaper “Rebuilding Lahaina” at https://lnkd.in/g4RtCTc8 will help Hawaii and others as they make important decisions about critical infrastructure now and in the years to come.Â
