Docket No. ER23-523

On November 30, 2022, in Docket No. ER23-523, MISO filed, on behalf of the MISO Transmission Owners, changes to Reactive Power compensation under Rate Schedule 2 to all but eliminate such compensation to generators for providing reactive power. The MISO proposed to cease paying reactive power compensation to transmission owners own and affiliated generation resources, which under FERC’s comparability principle, eliminates the obligation to compensate unaffiliated generators. If MISO dispatches a generating resource to provide reactive power outside the power factor range in the interconnection agreement, MISO will compensate such resource under an existing provision in its tariff. MISO proposes an effective date of December 1, 2022.Â
