The DNV Energy Transition Outlook 2025 reveals a clear pattern:
Electricity storage is considered desirable – but only for a few hours, or preferably not at all.
Electricity generated from renewable sources during surplus periods is to be curtailed rather than stored.
Seasonal energy storage, which could secure energy for months, remains a taboo topic.
Neither chemical storage nor methane-based systems appear in the models.
Surplus energy is simply wasted instead of being utilized.
Hydrogen storage is planned to be introduced by 2060 – allegedly with the help of the world’s only hydrogen tanker, the Suiso Frontier.
As a result, the energy transition remains weather-dependent rather than physically stable.
The economic absurdity is hard to overstate.
