Discussion Proposal: Power Prices

The electricity sector's production chain is the same as always: generation, transmission, and distribution.

But... what has changed, and significantly, is the type of generation. For over a century, it was essentially "centralized" in "dispatchable" plants producing "firm" energy.

In recent years, "non-firm" distributed generation has gained importance in our energy matrix. And so, an important change is underway: the associated costs of firm and non-firm energy are different, of course!

The pricing of these energies, firm and non-firm, should reflect the real costs of each. For those who wish to delve deeper into this issue, I have suggestions on how to face this new challenge, and, above all, in an agnostic manner and by leveraging the existing energy metering infrastructure for consumers who contract energy, whether firm or non-firm.
