Alternative Transmission plans $6B, 2.1-GW undersea power line between Puerto Rico, US East Coast

Here’s an ambitious plan! Let’s beta test this grand idea with an undersea transmission cable between the geothermal resources of the Big Island and the population center on Oahu.

Then, after we permit, design and construct the concept of a long distance HVDC undersea transmission cable system and ATI gets the permits and financing, we “scale-up” for the approx 1500 mile Puerto Rico program.
