Electric companies drive America’s economy by contributing 5% to GDP, investing more than $150bn+ per year, and supporting 7 million+ jobs. These are just some of the facts from Edison Electric Institute's (EEI) annual Wall Street Briefing held on February 20. The growing issues of resource adequacy, affordability, financing, and cyber-security are explored in this revealing article by Utility Dive’s Robert Walton. Capital investment is expected to reach $167.8bn when the final numbers are tabulated for 2023 – up 11.3% from 2022. Transmission and Distribution (T&D) account for roughly 53% of total investment, with Generation contributing about 26%.
