When should you lock in power prices?

The vast majority of companies and institutions I have advised lock power prices on the free market only when their current contracts are about to expire.

As a result, they end up paying the price prevailing at that specific moment.

I have found that monitoring power prices for future delivery and locking new contracts when the terms are truly attractive makes a huge difference!
