It’s been a rough week. As much as I try to mix positive stories with negative ones, this week, there simply weren’t any notable positive events.
Sure, the Department of Energy pat itself on the back for creating so many clean energy jobs. I may cover that next week. And there were the perfunctory stories touting large percentage growth rates in various sectors. That’s all wonderful if you’re in the industry. However, if you’re more concerned with actually solving climate change, not so much.
There was also a spate of stories about rising utility costs. It seems that solar and wind aren’t as free as the industry would like us to believe. The cost of managing intermittent distributed assets and grid upgrades have to be paid by someone, and that someone is all of us.
In any case, let’s finish the week on a “light” cultural note. I did a similar post about a month ago on climate-based art. Given I’m an art buff, it serves as a nice reprieve. I hope you enjoy the images.
