Power prices (Brazil)

Power prices (Brazil)

In the last few weeks, the spot, called PLD (CCEE), started an upward trajectory

About 1 month ago it was at R$ 56/MWh. Now R$72/MWh.

Long-term firm prices are in the range of R$170/MWh. It means that the spot is still "very low".

The hydroelectric reservoirs, which represent the most important source of power supply in the country, are doing quite well!.

Therefore the decisive factor for the movement of prices will be the demand, since the offer is "well behaved".

Anyone who bets that the country will continue with the economy at its current (slow) pace can predict long-term power prices stability. If, however, the chosen scenario is one of vigorous growth, prices should rise and well!

What will your assessment be?
