Photosynthesis can be used to increase life, to store carbon in decaying matter, and to generate rock. The white cliffs of Dover and much of the sea bed is composed of the skeletal remains of life that turned CO2 into rock. Photosynthesis has the potential to reduce atmospheric CO2 while providing a better environment for life, including food for us.
The perspective of Earth as a Superorganism (Gaia) comes to us from antiquity and it’s obvious that life and the rock have evolved together. The Earthian environment includes self-regulating features, including desertification and the associated increase in airborne dust that causes increased oceanic life and subsequent CO2 removal from the atmosphere. The ice advances and retreats and we benefit from the latter as it has allowed our civilization.
If we can accept that climate control must be profitable to be viable-else we expend more energy than we receive, then we can see that the money spent on reducing global warming is apt to have increased global warming.
