Order and Progress?

The words on our (Brazilian) flag are simple and wise (order and progress).

My understanding is that there are two "steps". The first is to organize what must be done. The second is to take action.

In the Brazilian electricity sector, we will start another new year without taking into account our national flag.

The most important themes that should be put in "order" are indicated below.

1. Prepare the market for massive migration to the free market?

Already in 2024 with the "bar reduction" to below 500 kW demand for any consumer connected in high voltage.

How will we cope with the higher costs that regulated energy suers pay? Will they be transferred to the deregulated ones?

2. Will "power theft" be faced?

More than 10% of the energy consumed in Brazil is diverted (theft). Will a program be made to identify and hold accountable this practice who has been burdening honest consumers who - ultimately - pay for the theft.

3. Will Demand Response be enabled?

What is Brazil waiting for to start? Meanwhile, we miss an opportunity to become more competitive against a list of countries.

4. Will instant showers be replaced?

More than 50 million traditional 5-kW showers represent the largest installed electrical load in the country. They represent an absurdity because they require large investments in the entire value chain (generation, transmission and distribution) BUT with very low utilization, resulting in a very high cost!

5. Solar energy and the duck curve

Brazil already has its duck curve, thanks to the massive introduction of solar energy in the country's power matrix. Will there be a measure to face the challenge, as it already happens in other countries?

We urgently need to respect our flag. Order is lacking! And it is precisely for this reason that we are the cost lantern in $/MWh when the comparison is "BRICS - developing countries"..
