NEWS: PPL Electric ‘advanced-stage’ data center pipeline grows 32%, to 14 GW

Crunching the numbers on PPL’s data center play: PPL has advanced-stage agreements to interconnect some 14 GW of data centers in its Pennsylvania service territory—an increase of 32% from three months ago. (Utility Dive)

  • PPL’s data center load could grow to 14.4 GW in 2034 from 800 MW in 2026, leadership said in Q2 earnings last week. Already, PPL has a 60-GW data center interconnection queue.

  • The strategy: PPL’s unregulated joint venture with Blackstone Infrastructure to build power plants to fuel data centers in PA has now secured land and entered into discussions with potential customers, gas pipeline companies, and turbine manufacturers.
