NEWS: Indiana Duke Energy workers could soon go on strike

About 1,000 unionized Duke Energy employees in Indiana are voting on the company’s final contract offer, and the outcome could trigger a strike affecting up to 910,000 customers. (WHAS 11)

  • The company and its union have been negotiating since January. A prior offer was rejected by 90% of members. One of the biggest sticking points? Soaring health insurance premiums.

  • A strike could cause storm recovery delays and increase blackout risks, especially during peak heat and storm season. Duke says it’s working toward an agreement—but has contingency plans.
