Federal agencies just rewrote the rules on how energy projects get reviewed—and climate’s been cut from the script. (Utility Dive)
In response to President Trump’s executive order and a recent Supreme Court ruling, FERC, DOE, and other agencies revoked regulations governing environmental reviews of proposed projects under NEPA, removing requirements to consider climate change, environmental justice, and public input.
Earthjustice warned the move weakens protections, while FERC released a new manual to keep projects legally durable in court. Some agencies also offered nonbinding guidance in place of regulations.
