NEWS: AI Boom Shifts the Mix of GE Vernova’s Customers, CEO Says

Data centers are skipping the utility middleman to buy power turbines directly—and changing the turbine business in a big way. (Bloomberg)

  • GE Vernova CEO Scott Strazik told Bloomberg that Big Tech could account for 25% of the company’s customer base this year—up from 10% last year and a “negligible” amount in 2024.

  • Big Tech’s scramble to secure their own power supplies has pushed GE Vernova’s gas turbine backlog to 80 GW (nearly doubling from 46 GW at the start of 2025), effectively selling out the company’s production capacity for several years.

  • On the flip side, Strazik admitted the wind turbine business remains a weak point with a "much softer" order book, citing a "complicated policy environment."
