In 2023, the average price of natural gas delivered to U.S. power plants was $3.36/MMBtu – down 53.4% from 2022, when prices averaged $7.21/MMBtu. Natural gas accounted for 43.1% of total U.S. electricity production during the year. That’s an all-time annual record – 6.8% higher than 2022. Lower gas prices drive lower wholesale electricity prices. That’s good for reducing inflation and really good for consumers.
