Is I-REC price in Brazil "very low"?

Is I-REC price in Brazil "very low"?

This title appeared this week in specialised energy media.

I-REC designates a "clean" energy certificate, with global recognition, and guarantees many benefits for companies due to the image it provides.

I-REC makes perfect sense in countries where electrical energy is produced from "dirty" sources. If a consumer decides to replace "dirty" energy with "clean" energy, the country benefits from reduced emissions.

In Brazil, however, the country's generation matrix is practically completely "clean". "Dirty" energy is only activated if and when necessary (for example emergencies, "low" hydroelectric reservoirs, among others).

And, from a cost point of view, “clean” ones are much cheaper than “dirty” ones. In other words, all Brazilian consumers are supplied with primarily "clean" energy.

Conclusion: I-REC in Brazil doesn't make any sense, since without it or with it the matrix is essentially the same, "clean".

But for good sellers there are always buyers who want to show an image that I-REC brings in most "dirty" countries.

This is a cost that does not bring value in Brazil.
