“In the last three decades since the climate movement has gotten active, the world’s economy has released more greenhouse pollution than in the years previously since the Industrial Revolution! Clearly, whatever progress on public policy that the movement has made with governments and businesses is inadequate. Those governments and businesses have failed to take meaningful action.” The results have led to steadily resetting the governmental and corporate zero emission target dates further back. “The current rate of greenhouse gas pollution is so high that Earth has about 11 years to rein in emissions if countries want to avoid the worst damage from climate change in the future, a new study concludes.” Our time has come to be deadly serious about getting to net zero emissions individually and collectively The Net Zero Emissions 2044 Task Force (NZE2044TF) is confident that with a much better plan and responding actions we can not only get much better results, but we can see obvious immediate improvements and move all the net zero emission 2050 goals up to 2044!
There are two main actions that must be taken. First, we must minimize all current energy use. The cleanest energy is the energy we do not use! Experts estimate that 30% of all energy produced is wasted, including renewables! The second action is to put teeth in carbon offsets programs. “A new analysis released last week by the international nonprofit InfluenceMap reveals an overwhelmingly unequal share of fossil fuel pollution worldwide. From 2016 to 2022, 80 percent of global carbon dioxide emissions were produced by just 57 companies!” NZE2044TF, the task force has developed a plan wherein those major emission creating entities can fund major emission reduction to offset their emission in a very cost-effective way to create the ultimate clean climate win-win-win scenario! Our first target would be public and multi-family housing that has achieved little to no progress in emission reductions. We pattern our plan after the very successful US state PACE programs that recoups efficiency funding through repayment from energy use reduction savings! “ It is morally reprehensible for companies to continue expanding exploration and production of carbon fuels in the face of knowledge now for decades that their products are harmful,” Unfortunately our governments have not only ignored this damaging effort, they are becoming even more complicit! “its production also shifted significantly from private companies to state-controlled entities and nation-states—a trend that signals a willful disregard for the Paris Agreement.”
Most clean climate spending is far less effective than it can be. As countries and corporations, we need a far better clean climate master plan and the only way we can get to net zero emissions is with a solution-based plan that starts with minimizing our energy use then offsetting the carbon emissions left with large scale emission reduction plans! All emission offenders must also minimize their energy use as part of this plan. Let’s get serious about net zero emissions starting today and make the major emission offenders part of the solution!
