First Hornsea 3 offshore converter station sets out for Europe!

Completed by Ørsted's Thailand-based team in partnership with Aibel and Hitachi Energy, the structure once installed will rise an astounding 70m above sea level. Prior to leaving port, the cargo, and the voyage of heavy transportation vessel BigLift Barentsz, was blessed by Buddhist monks. Orsted’s, Vice President and Managing Director of Hornsea 3, Luke Bridgman, said, “This huge structure is an impressive piece of engineering – completed safely, efficiently, on time, and on budget. It is now on a 55-day journey of more than 13,000 nautical miles to Haugesund, Norway for the installation and commissioning of the high voltage equipment. When complete in 2027, the wind farm will have the capacity to generate 2.85 gigawatts of renewable electricity, enough to power more than 3 million UK homes. With more than two hundred wind turbines installed across almost seven hundred square kilometers, this will be the single largest offshore wind farm in the world. Powering good!
