Energy: "Open-ended" or "closed-ended" questions?

A defining characteristic of energy leaders is the way they approach their challenges.

Two emblematic examples:

Shall we evaluate solar energy for our unit?
Or
What are our energy alternatives?

The first is a classic example of a "closed-ended" question. The second is an "open-ended" question.

In my experience, I've seen much better results when the client initially accepts "open-ended" questions. The world opens up. Alternatives can be modeled. The decision-making process becomes much more robust!
