Energy: Do you have a story to tell?
A very interesting way to showcase energy related solutions to the market is by sharing your case study here. If you have a real case, please contact me to discuss the publication of an article so that readers can learn about the motivations behind the solution, the results achieved, the main challenges faced, and conclusions.
Whether it's in energy contracting, efficient use, risk perception and mitigation... the field is vast and valuable!
Get in touch so we can make it happen together! And... see below a case - I'll tell you about - based on a real case situation.
I was hired as a consultant for a large multinational industrial group to discover opportunities in the energy sector. I identified that they used LPG and electricity in their production processes. The LPG had been incorporated at a time when its price resulted in a much lower cost of energy for heat treatment compared to the then-current cost of electricity.
When I did my audit, I noticed that the electric furnace that had been deactivated was in perfect condition!
I also verified that the client was consuming less than the contracted volume in the free electricity market. This resulted in losses because the surplus was being sold at the PLD ("spot") price, which was much lower than the contracted price.
I did the calculations and suggested that the client restarted the electric furnace and stopped using LPG, due to the enormous savings it would achieve. By ceasing to buy LPG and avoiding the sale of energy on the spot market with huge losses. For months in a row the client's cash flow was greatly improved (with no investments).
