Energy and the president-elect (Brazil)

Energy and the president-elect (Brazil)

The corporate world is wondering about the scenario of these coming years. And justifiably.

The massive migration to the free market, backed by the reduction of electricity bill costs, is making the captive market "anemic". It is reasonable to assume that only those who cannot - from a regulatory point of view - migrate remain captive.

And the big thing is: it is the captives who pay for a list of "trinkets" (as the market designates them referring to the expensive sweetheart deals that are passed on to the consumers). The free ones don't.

And what will the scenario be like then?

In a healthy environment this issue would be openly addressed so that there are no surprises. In other words, predictability!

In my opinion, the most adherent path to be chosen by the president-elect is the easiest: to transfer the "trinkets"" also to the consumers of the free market.

If this occurs, free companies and institutions will have substantial increases in costs.
