If there's one certainty regarding what our electricity sector in Brazil needs to achieve and maintain, it's: COMPETITIVENESS!
This isn't just a hunch. Brazil has been – for years – one of the laggards when the metric is $/kWh among the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa).
To "turn around," Brazil needs to choose leaders with a proven track record of success in managing COMPETITIVE companies and institutions. Their decisions should be centred on COST MERITOCRACY.
For decades, the electricity sector has been run without this meritocracy. On the contrary, we have an endless list of crony projects and a huge power theft that are simply and unceremoniously distributed among everyone, making it out of competitive parity.
I've seen many of my consulting clients (medium and large ones) decide to reduce their industrial activities precisely because of the "Brazil cost," and particularly the cost of energy.
When will we become aware of this stark reality?
