Electric vehicles and salt water don't mix well!

I'm a big fan of electrification and electric vehicles. One thing I didn't realize is that salt water and electric batteries don't mix well. As we're finding out on the clean-up of Sanibel Island, situations like these golf carts combusting are taking place. Of course the situation where your electric vehicle would be submerged in salt water would be rare. The Sanibel Fire Department has an active program in place to remove electric vehicles from flooded garages to mitigate potential house fires. (Pic from the Fort Meyers News-Press).
