Stories abound about the potential impact to power demand from the rapid growth of data centers. Some believe it’s a major problem while others downplay the effects. Although the most aggressive forecasts may be wrong, artificial intelligence and power-hungry data centers are going to tax an industry unaccustomed to dealing with demand growth.

As for Big Tech, its need for 27/4 clean power has companies like Microsoft, Google, and Amazon turning to nuclear and alternatives approaches such as geothermal. All this is a tremendous positive for clean energy. Unlike governments, the private sector is much more efficient in getting things done. And now, there is a clear profit motive that will drive major investments.

And a couple of former SpaceX employees are looking to get a piece of those investments. Arbor Energy is working on another option to power data centers. Check out today’s post to see what they are proposing and why the solution might be leveraging a clean energy “loophole.”
