Challenging times in the world
Many countries are adopting tariff retaliation "encouraged" by the American initiative.
This type of decision is based mainly on emotional factors. "Defending the honor" of the country.
In fact, there is no way to influence the American president's stance on increasing tariffs.
However, for the affected countries, and Brazil in particular, establishing retaliatory tariffs will be bad for the country. We will have higher import costs and consequently an increase in inflation.
There is no objective gain. On the contrary, losses are guaranteed.
It would be more than necessary, and recommended, for decision-making processes to be guided by careful study to discover what makes sense (or not).
Decisions should be focused on cost meritocracy.
