Brazil: Our leaders and the comfort zone

Brazil: Our leaders and the comfort zone

The electricity sector could gain a lot if the most relevant and even simple issues were addressed as they should be!

A shocking example for me is the change in peak times that occurred in the national hourly demand curve.

For many years, peak times were actually centered in the late afternoon and early evening. And the rates correctly reflected this scenario.

But... the curve has changed a lot! For quite a long time now,, peak times start in the early afternoon and last until the early hours of the night.

Peak and off-peak rates should reflect what actually happens. Of course! To avoid an increase in costs, since off-peak rates are currently applied at the "new" peak.

Currently, everyone loses. Real costs increase and all consumers pay, as always! How many months, years or decades will it take to our leaders correct this undesirable situation?
