On 27th May 2024, the MoIT issued Decision No. 1260 to approve the '2024' electricity generation price framework for combined gas turbine thermal power plants using LNG.

The much awaited indicative numbers are released.

Applied for:

“Power generation units that own power plants connected to the national power system with a total installed capacity of over 30 MW, power plants with an installed capacity of 30 MW or less voluntarily participate in the electricity market, except for strategic multi-purpose hydropower plants, oil-fired power plants, independent power plants invested in the form of Build - Operate - Transfer (BOT), power plants using solar energy. new renewable energy (wind, geothermal, tidal and biomass) and power plants have their own mechanisms prescribed by the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Industry and Trade or a competent state management agency;”

Price brackets – ceiling price: LNG: 0 – 2,590.85 VND/kWh (excluding VAT), UScents 0 - 10.56..

Determination of ceiling price is made on the following basis:

Net capacity: 1,579,125 kW

Net heat consumption at 85% load: 6,330.2 BTU/kWh

LNG price (excluding VAT, storage costs, regasification and post-regasification gas distribution costs): USD 12.9792/million BTU

Exchange rate: 24,520 VND/USD
