Trying to keep costs under control, energy companies turned to automated customer service last year. In the US, the volume of robocalls rose to 50.5 billion in 2021, approximately 10% higher than 2020, with 45.9 billion robocalls. That 2021 number translates to more than one call every other day: roughly 200 robocalls per year for every adult with a phone.
