EV charge in Brazil

EV charge in Brazil

Electric vehicles is the solution - the predominant form envisaged by most countries. Lower emissions are at the heart of the justifications.

Preparing the associated electrical infrastructure is a considerable challenge. Assuming that most will use residential chargers for both cost and convenience, it is a 4 kW power supply that would be on for many hours a night, every day.

The national fleet is 40 million cars. If there is a gradual introduction of electric vehicles, in a decade or two we would have - potentially - an associated electric demand that perhaps doubles the current national demand!

The challenge is enormous, for the entire production chain in the electricity sector. Investments in the hundreds of billions of dollars to include generation, transmission and distribution.

But there is a condition: PLANNING.
