Electric Utilities (Brazil): how to improve?
Providing consultancy for medium and large companies and institutions, there has always been a need to discuss with electricity distributors. A wide range of issues iare there, such as:
1. Changes in contracted demands
2. Migration to the deregulated power market
3. Change in time of use rates
4. Access at higher voltage level
5. Distributed generation
6. Emergency generation
7. Preparation for demand response programs
8. Telemetry
9. Energy efficiency programs
Distributors are normally structured by departments. So the customer needs to "navigate through these departments", have a huge amount of patience as each "attendant" has a list of "excuses" for the matter at hand to be postponed or transferred to someone else.
It's typically hell. Of course, always with a very politically correct, affable, affectionate" speech BUT that hardly resolves as it should.
My suggestion is simple conceptually. The customer has an attendant who responds to the “whole”. He would coordinate the various internal departments. It would be oriented to transform each customer's demand into a timeline with activities, deadlines and responsible parties.
Until this happens, we will continue to be at the bottom of the market in relation to the leading countries.
Do we have the drive to turn around this situation?
