POWER Engineers Acquires GIS Asset Management Firm

POWER Engineers, Inc. - 10.12.2009

POWER Engineers has acquired VELOCITIE Integration, a leading GIS services firm experienced in a wide range of platform-independent solutions. VELOCITIE specializes in implementing enterprise GIS asset management solutions for energy and telecommunications companies, utilities and municipalities. The firm provides a full complement of geospatial technology services, from strategic planning and system selection to application development and integrated system implementation for all major GIS platforms. VELOCITIE’s knowledge of the GIS industry will enhance POWER’s existing GIS services delivery to clients.

“Over the past decade VELOCITIE and POWER have built an excellent relationship by working together to deliver high-value services to our mutual clients,” said Bart Koenig, former VELOCITIE President and current Business Unit Director of POWER’s GIS business practice. “Bringing our teams together was the next logical step in realizing our mutual goals for serving our clients and expanding our service offerings. The VELOCITIE team is energized by the new opportunities and expanded services POWER’s resources will allow us to offer our growing client base.”

POWER currently provides engineering and environmental consulting services from 21 offices in the U.S. and abroad and has provided GIS services to utilities for over two decades. The VELOCITIE team brings to POWER over 300 years of combined experience in the geospatial industry. Capabilities include integrating GIS with business systems, providing asset maintenance, web, outage management, mobile and mapping software solutions, and implementing geospatial and intelligent network technologies. VELOCITIE has a proven track record of assisting with the evaluation, selection and management of GIS-based software solutions and data conversion vendors as well as developing programmatic data migration tools.

“We are very excited about the VELOCITIE team joining POWER,” said Executive Vice President Bill Eisinger. “The addition of VELOCITIE to our organization greatly strengthens POWER’s service offerings in utility asset management and Smart Grid implementation as well as expands POWER’s traditional energy client base to the telecommunications and municipal government industry.”
