In this free webinar, Siemens Energy transformer expert Andrew Lawless will discuss the impacts of geomagnetic disturbances (GMD) and the impacts on power transformers. This session will cover naturally-occurring GMDs and the definition of their threat, as well as geomagnetically induced current (GIC) impacts on power transformers and electric power systems, and GIC network mitigation measures.

Andrew Lawless currently oversees the marketing and technology for all transformer business related activities in the US, as well as coordinating activities for the same in Canada and Mexico. With more than 30 years of experience in the Transformer industry, Mr. Lawless has traveled extensively and has worked with major international customers and manufacturers in the U.S., Germany, Austria, Canada, Mexico, UK, Spain, China, India and South Korea. He is a member of IEEE and is a professional engineer registered in the province of Alberta, Canada (APEGGA).
