The smart grid digital infrastructure enables new capabilities; however, such a network has security risks such as unapproved access or cyber attack. A lack of adequate security can pose threats of service disruption. Added layers of security controls, policies and procedures are needed to protect and manage the grid. The IBM Security Framework offerings are helping IBM utility customers mitigate security risks within the context of regulatory standards; from enabling trust and confidence in systems and applications through providing visibility, control, and automation through CoBIT and ITIL based service management to staying ahead of threats by monitoring the attack landscape.
