The ability to create automatic demand response systems in buildings and homes is a consequence of three key technologies and one key market driver – the LonWorks platform for device networking, the Internet, web services, and a doubling of the cost of electricity in many markets. Obviously, the technology makes it all possible and the increase in cost makes it imperative.
