Calverton Solar Energy project has set to produce power for a large part of east Long Island.

This project consists of a 22.9 megawatt (MWAC) solar energy center, which is estimated to provide clean, renewable power for approximately 4,500 homes. The project is located on two adjacent but physically separated parcels totaling appx 200 acres. The solar arrays are comprised of fixed‐tilt, PV solar modules supported by structural racking systems on driven support posts. The electrical output will be transmitted to inverters, and then directed to a newly constructed collection substation. All power will then be directed via an underground HV transmission line to the existing LIPA Edwards Avenue substation.  
This work will be a vast help in sustainably powering the Suffolk county area and another step towards reducing carbon impact on the environment.
