The declining costs of renewables and the digitization of energy markets are accelerating the energy sector’s global transformation. With the emergence of a more distributed, intelligent energy ecosystem known as the Energy Cloud, Navigant anticipates the sector’s economic value to shift from traditional generation to a downstream service. This will affect the valuation of assets, calling for entirely new business models and financing strategies. Download today.

A critical type of evolution to highlight-- do you think it's ones that the traditional asset holders in the energy industry are taking heed of?

Hi Matt,

we are working with a number of traditional asset manager and asset holders, as well as with more agile PE firms to assess the risk sitting in portfolios, but much more importantly to look at the new business models and strategies required. Think for example of a pension that traditionally only put in minimum ticket sizes of $200m or above in the energy sector. We are now working with them on investing a $50m ticket in a development platform leading to a pipeline of infrastructure type returns of >$300m.
