And how much will this wind energy cost???

Interestingly, the article contains no information on what the developer will be paid.

In the US two offshore wind projectsoff the Maryland coast were approved last year.  The contract prices are approximately $140/MWh (in constant 2017 dollars).  But these prices are subsidized by a 30 percent Federal investment tax credit so the true unsibsidized prices would be more like $200/MWh!

These prices are about three times higher than those currently being offered for new onshore wind and large-scale solar projects.

Why would anyone in their right mind buy energy from offshore projects when there are far cheaper renewable energy alternatives available (at least in the US - perhaps Europe lacks the empty land for onshore projects)?

Until the cost of offshore wind drops substantially it is a nonstarter and a scam.
