Air Conditioning and Batteries
A very interesting initiative is underway in developed countries, led by air conditioning (AC) equipment manufacturers.
It's very simple and practical: storing energy in batteries, charging them off-peak, and using them at peak times to power the AC.
This solution alleviates the entire electricity sector production chain, benefiting everyone involved.
The supply side could postpone investments to expand installed capacity.
The demand side would see a cost reduction because the amortization of the investment in the battery system (and its operation and maintenance) would be lower than peak-load rates.
