Replacing the conventional starter with a "soft start" unit for electric motors can be a very attractive alternative. There are two main reasons for this:
1) Motor lifespan can be significantly extended! This is simply because the instantaneous peak starting current drops considerably.
2) Reduced energy consumption
Especially if the motor's operating schedule involves multiple starts per day. If you would like to evaluate this option, I am at your disposal. I prefer to run a pilot test and measure the difference—with and without the soft start—to assess the value and feasibility of the project!
