"the WEQ Cybersecurity Subcommittee started the annual review of the WEQ Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) Business Practice Standards and the Accreditation Requirements for Authorized Certification Authorities (ACAs). This review is part of NAESB’s broader annual cybersecurity review, in which the WEQ, WGQ, and RMQ proactively evaluate their cybersecurity related standards to determine whether revisions are needed in response to evolving technologies, regulatory expectations, and industry security frameworks. To identify areas that may require updates, the subcommittee reviewed developments on the NERC CIP Reliability Standards, relevant FERC directives, and increasing use of zero trust registries. Participants also discussed the potential effects of Executive Order 14412, which established deadlines for federal and critical infrastructure systems to transition to postquantum cryptography (PQC).
