Energy in Brazil: "later"

A recurring situation I encountered during my consulting career—when interacting with employees responsible for energy-related matters—was the common refrain that they would address the issue "later, when the time is right."

This "stance," so prevalent in the Brazilian business environment, actually points to a disregard for the subject.

Consequently, the most frequent outcome is the loss of opportunities to achieve and sustain results that are both valuable and advantageous for the client. It is easier—and more pleasant—to simply "let things slide." After all, why worry about something if it can be avoided?

That lower-level employees might be this indifferent is, perhaps, part of our cultural profile. But when those in leadership positions are complacent—well, that suggests a much more serious problem brewing.

So, what is your attitude?
