Energy: Cost x Value

Brazil's decisions to prioritise non-firm energy sources have resulted in significant additional costs.

Between 2012 and 2026, the ratio of national consumption (in average GW) to installed capacity (in GW) dropped from 50% to 36%.

In financial terms, this means Brazil chose to INCREASE its unit energy cost by about 35%, as it raised generation investment relative to the actual energy delivered.

We are talking about tens of billions of dollars in extra costs. In other words, our energy policy is driving up the cost of energy.

Isn't it time to question this "rationale"?
