Prices (Brazil): natural gas x electricity

Prices (Brazil): natural gas x electricity

Cost arbitrage between these two energy sources, is an important "tool" for companies and institutions. After all it is about achieving and maintaining minimum costs, ALWAYS. But... prices of these two sources have their variations independent of one another.

The graph shows the dividing line.

Example. The price of gas for a consumer is R$ 2/m3, so the "break-even" is R$ 200/MWh of electricity. In this case, if the price of electric energy is greater than R $ 200/MWh, it is equivalent to saying that it would be desirable to study the interest and convenience of its replacement by natural gas considering all the "boundary conditions" involved as so go for well informed decisions.
