Newsday's editorial board tosses a laurel to PSEG Long Island for practices and improvements that have increased reliability for the utility's customers. While calling upon PSEG to continue to do better, Newsday observes that "widespread and long-term outages didn’t happen during this past week’s blizzard and single-digit deep freeze. They mostly haven’t happened since PSEG Long Island took over most operations of Long Island’s power system from the Long Island Power Authority in 2014." Outages across Long Island last week totaled fewer than 25,000, and service interruptions lasted only about 100 minutes.
