So it looks like some of my fellow New Jersians will see their rates increase this year. PSE&G is raising prices partly due to higher natural gas costs, but also to pay for big transmission investments. To avoid public backlash, the utility would be wise to get the word out about transmission upgrades and the practical long term benefits they promise for customers. It’s also important to highlight that costs will not pass those of the pre-natural gas boom era. Despite this bump, prices are still generally trending down.
